Evaluation of the Effect of Different Priming Treatments on the Seed Germination of Maize (Zea mays. L) Based on In Vitro Conditions

Seed germination is one of the basic and vital stages in plant life cycle which affected by many factors. Different techniques can be used to enhance crop yield like seed priming that considered as a physiological treatment improves performance provide faster synchronized The objective this study compare efficacy different methods on seeds hybrid maize (hybrid Tikrit variety) with tow durations (12, 18 hours) under laboratory conditions. Seeds were subjected hydro- priming, hormonal gibberellic acid salicylic acid, liquorice extract, interaction among them comparison control (dry seeds). A screening was conducted at faculty Agricultural/ University during March 2021 using complete randomized design (CRD) three replicates. results showed for 12 hours have recorded significant increase level most parameters {first final germination% (86.67%, 84.00%), plumule radical length (8.750 cm, 6.633 cm), first seedling vigor index (136.6, 130.8), speed (1.889 seed/day), response (-0.0412), mean fresh weight (0.7120 gm), (16.21)}. maximum dry hydro-priming (15.3000 mg) hours. While parameter daily growth rate did not give any differences. Results proved effectiveness than rest treatments.
